No-Dough Pizza Bowl

Introduction

About this Recipe

Even though we don’t demonize foods here, we do have to acknowledge that your typical pizza isn’t the most bariatric friendly option out there.

It’s often too low in protein, too high in saturated fats and the doughy crust can be a total disaster for your bariatric tummy (just like rice and pasta might also be tolerated poorly).

That’s why we created these bariatric friendly “pizza bowls”. By adding lean ground beef and blended cottage cheese, the protein count goes up! A delicious blend of all “pizza-ish” flavours minus the dough. Let’s show you how to make this!

Ingredients

  • 6 oz / 180 g lean ground beef
  • 1/2 tsp paprika powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup cottage cheese, blended
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese

  • Basil leaves

Recipe notes

  • Substitute the spices with 1/2 tbsp Italian seasoning.
  • Substitute the ground beef for vegan “beef” or ground turkey for a different variety.
  • Don’t like blended cottage cheese? Omit the cottage cheese altogether or substitute with cream (does contain more fat and less protein!).
